BMW Build: Track My BMW
So, how do you track your BMW build? We work hard to make it easy for Cresskill-area shoppers to custom order their next luxury vehicle and track it from order creation to delivery. We work hard to ensure the entire process goes as smoothly as possible. Below is a guide to the process, how to track your order, and the timeline for the order.
Tracking Your BMW Build
First, log into My BMW. Then you can track your order by VIN or production number.
- Track by Vin: enter the 17-digit VIN
- Track by Production Number: enter the seven-digit production number
You can track the BMW production status at home, but it generally takes four to five weeks for a custom BMW to be assembled in the US and 10 weeks if it’s being assembled outside of the US. The timeline starts once your order is placed. Special order requests could take longer.
Adding Your BMW to My BMW
To track the BMW production status, you have to login into My BMW and add the vehicle. If you’re a first-time BMW owner, follow these steps:
- Head to BMWUSA.com
- Select “Owners” in the menu and “Register for My BMW.”
- Enter your information to set up an account.
- Once you click “Submit,” you will have to check your email to activate your BMW login.
- Once you open the email, select “My Garage.”
Current BMW owners can follow these steps:
- Head to BMWUSA.com
- Select “Owners” in the menu and “Sign in to My BMW.”
- Log in with the username and password of the primary account holder.\
- Select “My Garage”
Adding Your BMW For Tracking
- Click “Track My BMW” on the top My Garage menu
- Click “Add a vehicle” in the middle of the page
- You can add the VIN or choose “Enter production number.”
- With the vehicle added, click “My Vehicles” on the My Garage menu, then “Track Status.”
- This brings up a timeline of the production events
BMW Build Codes
Have you always wondered about how factories can track their orders internally? They can track it one of three ways: by VIN, Production Number, or one of the BMW factory status codes.
- 0 Order deleted by BMW
- 17 Order not specified
- 37 Order is at BMW NA
- 87 Production Week Assigned
- 97 Order sent to AG
- 100 Order deleted by AG
- 101 Error in data transmitted
- 102 Special Order (no Prod Week)
- 105 Order out of Prod. Period
- 111 Order Accepted at AG
- 112 Order scheduled for Production. Up to this point you can still often make changes to your order. Once it reaches 150, the vehicle is on the assembly line and can’t be changed.
